What is Steve Baskerville known for?

Best recognized for his long and successful career as a television meteorologist, Steve Baskerville was born in 1950 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Graduating from Temple University and later obtaining a Certificate in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University, this Philadelphia native went on to make significant contributions in the field of meteorology. Philadelphia, PA was where he was born and where he started his career at KYW-TV.

Baskerville's career took a significant turn when he joined CBS's WBBM-TV as a weekend weatherman in Chicago in September 1987. His role quickly expanded, and by July 1988, he was the station's primary weekday forecaster. He continued in this role until his retirement in December 2017. In total, he spent around three decades at WBBM-TV, leaving an indelible mark on the station and its viewers.

Before his tenure at WBBM-TV, Baskerville honed his skills at the national level, working as a weather anchor for CBS This Morning from 1984 to 1987. After such a distinguished career, he announced his well-deserved retirement on November 28, 2017.
