About	Dick was the first of our classmates to die after graduation. All who knew him were profoundly affected by his death. Known as "Bird" in high school, Dick was a lettered football player and was Captain in his Senior year, was on Mr. Harwick's famed gym team, was a member of Varsity O-E Club and was our Class President his Senior year. Dick died at the age of 19 as a result of iknternal injuries resulting from an auto accident in Germany while serving in the U.S. Army. He joined the Army on 9/23/1963 and went overseas 3/15/1964. He was survived by his parents and four sisters, also O-E Graduates: Donna, Sherry, Kathleen and Gail. .
