About Me | Check out the band website@ www.dustinevans.com Don`t forget to click on the "Wahoo" in the top right corner of the home page either!! Also Look for Dustin Evans on YOUTUBE !! "Timmo" started playing music at age 8 by taking guitar lessons from Illinois Guitar Legend Evelyn Brue. After recieving "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" and learning the first 3 songs on guitar...I got to Bennie and the Jets...and decided I needed to learn piano. So I started harassing my friends that did play piano,Bob Lewis, Joe Reagan and my Sister Alice and tried to learn and "pick up" what they were doing by ear....pissing them off in the process. The Summer before my Freshman year at OTHS I practiced every day from the moment the school opened until they locked it at night.Early in the Spring of my Freshman year someone had been sneaking into the Auditorium and listening to me practicing..That was Mr. Bill Meyers. He convinced me to audition for the "Fine Arts " program they had at OTHS every Spring. I did and they let me perform for the first time in front of a packed auditorium during the "student talent" portion....needless to say I was hooked.. I started playing full time at age 18, leaving his home in Ottawa, IL, to travel with a popular regional show band.Playing 6 nights a week and a song list including 50..s,60..s,70..s, Country and 3 complete Show Sets along with the current Top 40 hits of the day "The Happyness Show and Dance Band" was known for it`s wild and crazy stage antics and crowd participation. This band was on the road 46 weeks a year and played throughout the Midwest and Canada. It was here that he learned how to quickly play different styles of music and also how to play to the crowd. He eventually settled in Mitchell, SD, and after a short stint without playing, met Jimmy Weber(who plays with the Air Force Band)...an amazing guitar player from near by Alexandria,SD and started doing 2 man shows...we called them "The Bean and Beaner Show" Jimmy had a nickname,Bean and of course.....and the Beaner part...well...The Mexican.....well... you know... At a "Bean and Beaner" show one nite....in walked some of the members of the all ready popular local South Dakota band "Good Times". They were friends with Jimmy and were impressed by the wild antics of the crazy fellow behind the keyboards. After we talked it over..and I agreed to a VERY small amount of cash per night(just happy to be playing again) I joined Good Times. "His masterful playing, powerful vocals, and uncanny rapport with the audience immediately made a positive impact on the group and their path." "Since then, Tim has witnessed the addition of Dustin and each current member to the group. Playing up his Mexican heritage and his popular "Wahoo!' times have made him a crowd favorite, but his keyboards have been the one constant in the group's evolution." With Dustin we have had the chance to share the stage with some of Country Music`s biggest performers including Chris Ledoux(23 times) Montgomery Gentry(6 times),Martina McBride(2times),Toby Keith,Keith Urban and Brad Paisley(2 times) just to name a few..and a few more like..Neal McCoy(8 times) Trace Adkins(2 times)John Micheal Montgomery,Aaron Tippin,Clay Walker,Sawyer Brown,Black Hawk,Joe Diffie,Terri Clark,Diamond Rio,Trick Pony,Big and Rich,Travis Tritt,LoneStar,Jo Dee Messina and The Zac Brown Band...to name some more.. Well.....at least that is what it says about me on our website.... I could not think of anything more to say about myself except.... that I have 2 beautiful Daughters (One of them I didn`t meet until she was 19 yrs old!) that I love more than anything in the world,A great Family( that put the "FUN" in Dysfunctional) back home in Illinois....and some great friends that also mean the world to me......and then there are some folks and relatives that just do not get me.....or take the time to anyway.....but they will hopefully come around before it is too late. To folks that have a problem with me..Yes, I can be and have been a first class jerk at times......even have a tendancy to be loud, obnoxious and at times.....socially unacceptable.....but I think we all are....in one way or another.... at sometime in our lives.....Remember.....NO ONE is without sins. You can ask people that have known me forever..... Yep....got a pretty good temper...but will back up an honest friend in a NY minute. I try to be as honest as I can...without giving myself completely away...I have a heart as big as the great outdoors.....just do not cross it.... But I do believe in Karma....so for those of you that have crossed it....and even broke it.......it will be your turn one day.......and I ...(read more) |
