About MANSFIELD- Eddie R. Lake, long-time Mansfield resident, went home to be with his Savior after a long battle with ALS on August 22, 2011. He will be remembered for his passion and love for people and his sharp wit and sense of humor.

He was born December 24, 1939 in Shinnston, West Virginia, the son of Henry and Angie (Ogden) Lake, who preceded him in death. He and his wife Edna had recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a party given by their children. Eddie was a graduate of Shinnston High School and Fairmont State College in West Virginia. He earned his M.S. in Education from Akron University. A devoted educator, he held positions teaching, coaching, and administration. After his retirement from education, Eddie held positions of zoning inspector for Ontario City, marketing associate for K.E. McCartney, and in the human resources department for Kokosing Construction Company.

Eddie loved sports and coaching and was inducted into the Fredericktown and Ontario Coaches Hall of Fame. He was a 32 degree mason and received a 25 year award from Mansfield F&AM Lodge, a member of Eastern Star Ruth Lodge #17, Scottish Rite Associations, and Berean Baptist Church. Eddie was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Richland County Hunt Club. He trained his companion Brittany as a therapy dog. Eddie spent many years boating and fishing at Lake Erie.

He is survived by his wife Edna Lake, daughter Ranae Lake Altman and her husband Wayne, son Ken Lake and his wife Michelle. His pride and joy were his grandchildren: Mae, Keith, and Faith Altman, and Jenny and Kelly Lake.
