About	Richard L. "Rick" DeWalt Sr., 54, of 9623 State Route 19, South, Galion, died Thursday, September 3, 2009 at his residence with his wife at his side, after an eight year battle with cancer. Rick was born in Crestline on July 15, 1955 to Dick and Darlene (Walker) DeWalt. He married Debra Persinger on September, 29, 1990 and she survives him. Rick was a Maintenance Foreman at the former Mansfield Foundry. Rick was never one to hold back his opinion, with Rick people always knew where they stood. He was the first one to give himself to anyone in need. Behind the gruff exterior was a gentle heart and sentimental person whom few really knew. Deb stood by Rick over the years with his battle with cancer giving constant care and support. Rick loved Salmon fishing in Michigan and spending weekends at Lake Erie. He loved tinkering in the garage with his son Dave, getting into whatever project sparked their interest; they both thought their way was the best. He adored his 2 granddaughters, Memphis and Audry who could wrap their Papaw around their little finger with just a smile or a story about the tooth fairy. He enjoyed time spent with his buddy Zack, and seeing who had the biggest story of the day. Rick had a deep love for animals and adored his German Shepards, Lady and Cheyenne (Both deceased). He always said dogs love was the truest in the world because they love with no judgments or expectations. Rick felt most comfortable in his jeans, if he was unable to wear his jeans, then it just wasn't worth going. The family would like to thank Candy Tice, his nurse and friend, neighbors, Tim and Tammy Danner for their help and special sense of humor that always kept Rick entertained. He is survived by his father and step mother, Dick and Char; Sons, David and Angela of Marion and Rick Dewalt Jr.;
