About	Mansfield: Carl Duffner Jr. understood the value of hard work and humility. He was a man of many talents, yet he was simple and appreciative. Carl was a genuine, kind family-man. No longer bound by the ailments of this life, Carl E. Duffner, Jr. passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Avita Hospital Ontario following an extended illness. He had just turned 65. The son of Carl E. Duffner, Sr. and Thelma (Ridenour) Duffner, Carl was born May 22, 1954 in Mansfield and graduated from Ontario in 1972. While in high school Carl ran track and was a member of the 1971 Ontario men’s cross country team which finished 3rd in the state of Ohio. He appreciated the outdoors, especially fishing. Annually Carl and his father would fish in Canada and the Great Lakes. He had a soft spot for dogs and always had a family pet. Whether it be camping or cruising on a ship, Carl enjoyed relaxing with family and friends. Carl was an avid reader. Rarely would you see him without a book in hand. Carl was also proud to be a certified pyrotechnician, where he brought joy to many during the Fourth of July area celebrations. He was also always up for a bonfire, a good game of darts, horse shoes, ping pong or cornhole. He coached his children Brandon and Amanda, in both little league baseball and softball. Carl was a Cleveland Indians and Cavaliers fanatic. Carl was a member of Emanuel Jacob Congregation in Mansfield. More recently he cherished the role of grandpa; his grandchildren were the light of his life. He was a man who left his imprint on so many lives. Carl will be greatly missed. Carl is survived by his wife of 39 years, Mindy (Podolny) Duffner of Mansfield; son Brandon (Tracy) Duffner of Hilton Head, South Carolina and daughter Amanda (Josh) Mottayaw of Mansfield; grandchildren Eli Duffner and Brylyn, Tatum, and Harper Mottayaw; parents Carl Duffner, Sr. and Thelma Duffner of Ontario; brothers Bruce Duffner (Sheri Koehler) of Columbus and Brett (Laura) Duffner of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; sister-in-law Angella (Danny) Stevens; nieces and nephews Cameron, Annica, Molly, Emily, Erik, and Ethan. He was preceded in death by his brother Tod Duffner.
