Mary Hamilton

Class of 1957

I graduated in 1957 and became a published author at age 73. It took me 50 years to write about my life, which starts out near Mansfield. My four years at Ontario High School are still part of me today and you will read this in the book. You will also read that my children had to change schools, sometimes twice in one year. I then went on to the University of Cincinnati, but did not have this opportunity until I was 30 years old.

This is my story of a little girl growing up during and after World War II and how life gives you good and bad- love and marriage the same. Then finding my husband, the only man I ever dated and how we spent 56 years together and had three sons. We moved many times always with problems. I am the girl the family calls Mitzi but to the world I am Mary. I grew up on a farm in Ohio and spent many years working either in the house or out hunting or fishing with my father. Mother was the quiet one but she loved to cook. The war years consumed us, every one in the family knew the war was a big part of our lives.
