About	Edgar Eugene "Gene" Daniel, longtime resident of Niagara Falls passed away on Friday, June 14, 2013 after a brief illness. He was 69. He was born in Aberdeen, Mississippi on August 4, 1943, a son of the late Edgar Franklin and Oma Lee (White) Daniel. He moved to Niagara County as a child and attended local schools and was a 1963 graduate of North Tonawanda Senior High School. Gene served active duty with the United States Navy from 1963 to 1965 and continued his service to his country with the United States Naval Reserve until his retirement in 1996. He was employed with the E.I. DuPont Company (Niagara Plant) as a painter and building mechanic for 34 years, retiring in 2000. Gene was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association of Buffalo, the American Legion LaSalle Post #1142, Niagara River Lodge #785 F.& A.M., the LaSalle Sportsmen and the Wilson Conservation Clubs. He is survived by three brothers, Jerry Wayne Daniel of San Juan, California, Omer Lome Daniel of Carlsbad, Texas, and Lyle (Connie) Daniel of San Angelo, Texas; two nieces and two nephews and his longtime companion Nancy Colwell of Amherst, N.Y. Friends may call at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC. 8622 Buffalo Ave. on Sunday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. where funeral services will be held at 8 P.M. with Pastor Ron Maines officiating. Military Honors will be conducted following the service. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery in the Town of Lewiston.
