About Roger T. Carter

Roger T. Carter, 78 of North Tonawanda, NY passed away on Thursday April 28, 2011 at his residence while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in North Tonawanda, NY he was the son of the late Albert T. and Edna Carter.

Roger served in the United States Navy during the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. Tripoli from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1955. He was employed at Union Carbide’s Linde Division in Tonawanda, NY as Superintendant of the maintenance and fabricators department retiring in 1992 after 37 years of service. Rog was a 55 year member of the American Legion, past assistant chief of the Adams Volunteer Fire Co., and was a former member of the Jaycees and Wheatfield Snowdrifters. Rog’s most important accomplishment was having the love and respect of his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved his cabin and his little piece of ‘Bliss’. Hunting, fishing and enjoying being close to nature were his recreation. Family, friends, hunting buddies, cruising and vacationing with his wife were the most important things in his life.

Please remember Rog for the love and care that he gave to his family and friends. He truly had a big heart.

Roger is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Shirley A. (Judd) Carter, his three children, Linda Carter of Olean, NY, Thomas Carter of Niagara Falls, NY and Lisa (Mark) Mineweaser of Pendleton, NY. He was the grandpa of, Adrienne (Justin Maidment) Carter, Steven Carter, Christine Carter and Thomas Carter, Amy (Nicholas Hollar) Mineweaser, Eric Baker and Steven Baker, proud great-grandpa of, Julian Maidment and Mason Hollar, brother of Alfred Carter of Venice, FL, Paul (Theresa) Carter of Sherrill, NY and late James Carter, he was brother-in-law of Brenda and Roger Killian of Kenmore, NY. Roger is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday May 7, 2011 at Acacia Park Cemetery 4215 Tonawanda Creek Road North Tonawanda, NY with Rev. Susan Keppy officiating, concluding with Military Honors. If desired, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice 4675 Sunset Dr. Lockport, NY 14094. Arrangements by M.J.
