What is DJ TAB known for?

Trumaine Barnett-Epps, known by his professional name DJ Tab, is a notable alumnus from Normandy High School, St. Louis, Missouri (MO). Born on September 19, 1987 in St. Louis, DJ Tab embarked on his career as a DJ at the tender age of 11. His talent for DJing was unlocked while watching local DJs at work in St. Louis skating rinks and teen nightclubs.

Education was also a priority for DJ Tab, who pursued his studies at the ITT Technical Institute, graduating with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. Despite his academic endeavors, his passion for music never waned. His sophomore year of high school presented a significant opportunity when a local female promoter booked him and J-Kwon for a high school Christmas concert. This event turned into DJ Tab's big break after stepping in to salvage a malfunctioned soundcheck for J-Kwon using the vinyl record of J-Kwon's hit 2003 single "Tipsy."

Throughout his career, DJ Tab has worked with big names in the music industry like DJ Khaled, Chris Brown, Bow Wow, and J-Kwon. In 2015, he received recognition for his work as he was nominated for the Midwest Regional Club DJ of the Year at the 4th edition of the annual Global Spin Awards. DJ Tab is known for his versatility in his musical career, dabbling in hip hop, R&B, house, and EDM genres.

Beyond his music career, DJ Tab is also an entrepreneur. He is the owner of Streetz 105.1 and works as a radio personality on Sirius XM Shade 45 on Sunday nights. Additionally, he has made successful ventures into the world of fashion and health, launching Empire Clothing, a men's online clothing store in 2015, and his own energy drink, Get-N-Tune in 2016.

Throughout the years, DJ Tab has also released several singles that have contributed to his recognition and success in the music industry including "We Don't Love 'Em (Remix)" in 2011, "Luv Wit 2", "Dance" in 2013, "Breakdown" in 2015, "Jelly" in 2017, and "I Ain't Scared" in 2020.
