Mason-Rice is in the process of planning a large community event on Saturday May 1st to celebrate Mason-Rice’s 50th birthday.
Celebration and Open House to mark Mason-Rice’s 50th Birthday on May 1st, 2010 (rain date May 2nd).
It is going to be a great event! There will be children’s games, great food, live music, a faculty chorus production, tours of the building, former faculty, alumni, and ceremonial cutting of the cake and presentations by Principal Mark Springer. Fund Raiser
I am looking to get in touch with any alumni from Newton South who would like to participate in a Fund Raiser that directly benefits the Jimmy Fund. The event is the Boston Marathon/Jimmy Fund Walk and it takes place every September. The tentative date for next years walk is September 12th. It is the largest participatory event that the Jimmy Fund has and it raises approximately 6 million dollars annually. All of the money goes towards cancer research in general and pediatric cancer research in particular. I would like to find any alumni who would like to walk 5, 13, or 26 miles and hopefully to get their friends and families to sponsor their efforts. I think it would be fun to get a team from our High School to become involved in such an important charitable cause.
