passed away Monday, May
14, 2012 will be held Friday,
May 18, 2012, at 3:00 PM at
Resurrection Life Worship
Center, Picayune, MS; Rev.
Allen Hickman will officiate.
Burial will be in New Palestine
Cemetery.

Don was born in Albany,
New York on August 16,
1957 and lived in Castleton-
on-Hudson and Newburgh,
New York. In his youth
he was active in Pop Warner
Little League and Boy
Scouts. In 1975 he graduated
from Newburgh Free
Academy. He attended William
Carey College and the
University of Maryland Fire
Training Academy.

A resident of Hattiesburg,
he was a firefighter and battalion
chief, retired from the
Hattiesburg Fire Department.
Recognized in 1986
as Fireman of the Year by
Insurance Women of Hattiesburg
and in 1991 as Outstanding
Young Firefighter
by the Hattiesburg Jaycees,
Don was a certified smoke
diver. At the time of his
death, he was Curriculum
Coordinator and Public Relations
Officer for the Mississippi
State Fire Academy
in Jackson, where he also
served as an instructor.

He was preceded in death
by his father, Harold J. Koss,
his godparents, Louise Sylvester
and Donald Terry,
and numerous aunts and uncles
including Lorraine Van
De Wal, Arthur Kuhns, Harley
Sylvester, Lillian Terry,
Herb and Marion Schmidt,
Walter and Kay Koss and
cousin Mike Reilly.

Survivors include his
wife, Kathy Forbes Koss,
his daughter, Donielle Koss,
his grandson, Jaydon Koss,
his mother, Muriel Kuhns
Koss, his sister, Leann Koss
West, his nephew Adam M.
West and wife Amanda, his
uncle Charles Van De Wal,
his aunt Elizabeth Robinson,
and numerous cousins
throughout the United
States.

In lieu of flowers, memorials
for Don may be sent to
the Mississippi Burn Camp
Fund or to the Mississippi
Academy Fire Academy
