About Donald William Canfield, of New Windsor, entered into rest on Friday, June 19, 2009 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh Campus. He was 57.

Son of the late Warren and Shirley Smith Canfield he was born September 21, 1951 in Newburgh. He married Cheryl Ray Canfield in July 1974 who survives at home.

Don was a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, loyal brother, avid golfer and a great friend. He always had a smile on his face and knew how to make those around him feel welcome. Anyone who knew him was greeted with a high five! To know Donnie was to appreciate a better life. We love you and we'll miss you. Donald proudly served in the U.S. Naval Reserve and was employed by the Coca Cola Bottling Co. for 40 years. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 812, a member of the New Windsor Republican Committee, and past board member and coach of the New Windsor Girls Softball League. He also played in the Tuesday Night Millcreek Golf League.

In addition to his loving wife of 35 years, Cheryl, he is survived by his children, Courtney Greene and her husband, Dominick of Newburgh, Heather Walsh and her husband Timothy of New Windsor; grandchildren: Daniel and Ryan Greene, Hannah and Leah Walsh; brothers and sisters, Warren Canfield and his wife Carolyn of Newburgh, Shirley Talmadge and her husband, Frank of Nashville, TN, Kenneth Canfield and his wife Anna of Waterloo, NY, Jerry Canfield and his wife Susan of Newburgh; several aunts and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his brother James Canfield.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday June 23, at Brooks Funeral Home 481 Gidney Ave. Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday June 24 at St. Mary's Church Newburgh. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor.
