About	John David Hoy, long-time New Castle resident, passed peacefully on Friday, October 7, 2016 at Heritage House Convalescence Center in Richmond, Indiana. John was born on July 18, 1954 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Harmon and Mary Hoy. He was 1 of 4 children, along with Susannah VanDam, Steve Hoy, and Julie Hoy Sweigart. John was a graduate of Walter P. Chrysler High School and received a Bachelor of Science from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. He was previously married to Mickie Hoy and has 2 children: Courtney Hoy Bruton of New Castle, married to Jon, and one granddaughter; Nora, also a son, Michael Hoy of Durham, North Carolina, married to Ami, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. John owned and operated H.H. Hoy Jewelers in New Castle, Indiana. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a way of making those around him smile. He will be remembered for his contagious personality and love for life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Calling will be held on Monday evening, October 10th, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Macer Hall Funeral Home. Macer-Hall funeral directors are honored to serve the Hoy family.
