About	New Castle - Eric "Rock" Blattner, 64, of New Castle, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 at IU Ball Hospital in Muncie. He was born December 18, 1953 in Edinburgh, Indiana to the late Louis and Joyce (Tully) Blattner. Eric was a 1972 graduate of New Castle High School where he was the "Spirit Man" and played football. He retired from the Indiana Department of Corrections in 2016 following over 30 years of employment. Eric loved spending time with his family and was a devoted father and grandfather. He was an avid fan of the Indianapolis Colts and NASCAR. He is survived by his son and best friend, "Whit" (Robbin) Blattner of New Castle; grandchildren, Brandi Carnes, Kristafer Carnes, Shelbi Blattner, Jaycee Blattner, Sophie Cole, Zoee Mahone, niece and nephew, Ryan Blattner and Kara Smith, sister-in-law, Sondra Blattner and many special friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Christopher Blattner and a grandson, Mikel Carnes. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Paul Kirk officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 30 at the funeral home.
