What is Marsha Bemko known for?

Marsha Bemko is a highly respected figure in the realm of American television production, best known as the executive producer of the popular PBS series Antiques Roadshow and its affiliate show, Market Warriors. A proud alumna of Needham High School in Needham, Massachusetts, Bemko's television career spans over 30 years, much of which has been dedicated to PBS and its programming.

Prior to her involvement with Antiques Roadshow starting as a senior producer in 1999, Bemko worked on a variety of public affairs programs. These included stints as WGBH's coordinating producer for national programming and the series producer for Culture Shock (1999), a historical series exploring censorship in the arts and the freedom of expression. She was also the coordinating producer for Discovering Women (1995), a significant series about six women scientists, and contributed to various production aspects of the award-winning Frontline public affairs series, beginning in 1982.

Outside of her extensive television work, Bemko also has experience in marketing as a director for the Boston Marketing Services Group and as a reporter for the Springfield Newspapers. She's recognized as an influential lecturer, having been invited to speak at community organizations, colleges, business groups, and public television stations across the country. Bemko has also acted as a mentor to aspiring producers as part of the CPB/WGBH Producers Workshop, in addition to her ongoing role as a writer for the Antiques Roadshow Insider, a WGBH-licensed newsletter.

After graduating in 1977 from Westfield State College, Bemko has continued to give back to her alma mater, serving on the Westfield State College Foundation Board of Directors. Further showcasing her depth of knowledge in the world of antiques, Bemko penned the book "Antiques Roadshow Behind the Scenes", published by Simon and Schuster in 2009.
