About Allen Ross
Allen Ross, 42, of Cheyenne, Wyo., and a former resident of Naperville, died in November 1995 in Cheyenne.
He was born March 25, 1953, in Chicago and was living in Guthrie, Okla., before moving to Cheyenne.
He was a 1971 graduate of Naperville Central High School.
He graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago with a teaching certificate and went on to become a respected independent filmmaker and a leader in the field.
He taught at New Trier High School and at the School of the Art Institute.
His film, "The Grandfather Trilogy," was shown at the Whitney Museum in New York. In 1993, his last film, "Ordinary Conversations about Extraordinary Matters," was shown at the Gene Siskel Film Center of the School of the Art Institute.

He was a co-founder of Chicago Filmmakers, a refuge for artists where they can screen their works and rent film equipment.
While holding down his day job as an editor on the television series "Wild Kingdom," he would work on his own films and help others with their projects.
He is survived by a twin brother, Bradley (wife Susan) Ross of West Chicago and a brother, John Ross of Portland, Ore.

His father, Laurids E. Ross, died Oct. 30, 2000.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Anne (Cox), who died in 1986.

Visitation is from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 117 W. Van Buren Ave., Naperville.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10, at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 21 E. Franklin St., Naperville, with the Rev. John M. Gillham officiating.

Interment will be in Naperville Cemetery.
