Verlin Anderson

Class of 1961

I went to college at NDSU on a basketball scholarship, and graduated in 1965 with a Mechanical Engineering Degree. Went to work for Westinghouse Electric in 1966, married Maureen Taylor. I lived in San Francisco, and then transferred to Sacramento, CA. Lived there 1966-68, our first son was born, and I played on a Semi Pro Basketball team. I got transferred several times, and in 1969 we bought a a house in San Ramon, CA; a suburb of Oakland. our daughter was born. In Livermore, CA. Our and I played pickup basketball games with several Oakland Raiders. I became good friends with Kenny Snake Stabler, who was 2 years younger than me. In November 1972, we were transferred to Des Moines, IA. I got divorced in 1975. I played on a Semi Pro basketball, the sponsor was a Des Moines radio station, KIOA Hi-Hoopers.I played on it until 1976; the Radio station donated over $1,000,000 to large and small cities in IA.
I also have traced my Scandinavian ancestors to 1145. I went to visit relatives in 1980 in Norway and Denmark. I didn't get a chance to visit Sweden.
