Lauren Elizabeth Failla Foundation Expands Baby Bag Program in 2012

Morristown, NJ (August 27, 2012)- The Lauren Elizabeth Failla Foundation, receives grants from Morristown Rotary and Johnson & Johnson to distribute “Bringing Home Baby” bags through Morristown Medical Center’s Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit in 2012.

The Lauren Elizabeth Failla Foundation (LEFF) is a 501(c)(3) certified non-profit organization, created in loving memory of Lauren Elizabeth Failla. Borne in 2010, the LEFF mission includes efforts to honor Lauren’s passion for newborns and her work volunteering at the Morristown Medical Center’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). A generous $2,500 donation from the Morristown Rotary Club (http://www.morristownrotarynow.com) has enabled LEFF to expand its newborn baby bag program. On April 14, 2012, eighty friends of the LEFF gathered in the Morristown High School cafeteria to pack one hundred diaper bags and write personal wishes for each recipient. These bags will be delivered to the Morristown Medical Center throughout the course of 2012 calendar year.

LEFF began assembling newborn baby bags in 2011. The custom embroidered turquoise bags are packed with essentials to try to ease the transition home for families discharged from the NICU. Between June 2011 and November 2011 the LEFF provided thirty-seven new moms and their newborns with diaper bags filled with “bringing home baby” necessities, including diapers, lotions, wipes, shampoo, bibs, first aid kits, hand-knit baby caps, and signature “I LOVE YOU” onesies. social workers, who have assisted in designing the contents of the bags, identify appropriate recipients and distribute the bags. Additional donations from suppliers and a $1000 grant from Johnson & Johnson contribute to the program.

LEFF’s ‘Bringing Home Baby’ bags have received glowing reviews from the staff of Morristown Medical Center and as one Social worker stated, the families’ “eyes light up as if they just won the lottery!”

The Lauren Elizabeth Failla Foundation looks forward to continuing the ‘Bringing Home Baby’ bags project for 2013. For more information and to find out how you can be involved please visit the Foundation’s website: www.laurenfoundation.com.
