About On January 29, 2018, Charles. R. “Chuck” Giger, Jr. of Hookstown, Pa., succumbed to a three year battle with cancer. He was born in Millvale on August 26, 1938, and was preceded in death by his parents, Charles R. Sr. and Rosalie Schelenski Giger of Millvale. He is survived by sons, Mark I. of Florida, Scott I. of Lower Burrell, Gale I. of Calif., and two sisters, Carol Giger and her son, Jesse, and Janet Metzger and her husband, Robert, and children, Cathy Sue and Bobby. He went on to WVU where he graduated with two degrees in Physical and Health Education. He touched many children’s lives as a PE teacher in the Moon Area School District for 33 years, where he was the first to place a female on an all-male basketball team. An avid hunter, he loved restoring old cars and loved his summer camping trips to Rockland, Pa. with his family and friends. He attended the Mt.
