About James Samuel “Jimmy” Smith, Jr., 65, a former resident of Tucson, AZ (raised in Wireton, PA) , went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 25, 2017. He is now finally reunited with his beloved wife of 40 years, Marina Duarte Smith, who passed away on January 15, 2017.
Jim was born on April 6, 1952 and graduated from Moon High School in 1971. Shortly thereafter, he joined the US Marine Corp., serving his country proudly as an MP. Jim was a former employee of J&L Steel, Aliquippa, PA. He loved playing golf, pinochle, poker and buying and selling at the local swap meets, where he was fondly remembered as “The TV Man”. Jim also liked visiting the local casino, spending time with family, and he could never resist a good prank.
Jim dearly loved and leaves behind, a daughter, Renee (Quinton) Hale, Tucson, AZ, a son Lou Smith, Phoenix, AZ, and his granddaughters, Faythe and Ralayna. He is also survived by three sisters, Patty (Dennis Brinkman), Linda (Dan) Mozuch, Rosemary Smith, and three brothers, Ken (Nancy) Smith, Robert (Marcia) Smith, and Tom (Debbie) Smith; three aunts, Clara Smith, Caroline Hogue, and special caregiver, Margaret (Bootsie Hitt), and many nieces and nephews. Jim’s ready smile and generous heart will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jim was preceded in death by parents, James Smith Sr. and Helen Kidder; grandparents, Thomas and Vera Smith, an aunt, Edie (Smith) Figo, and an uncle, Thomas Smith.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Mt. Carmel Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 2720 Broadhead Road, Aliquippa, PA 15001.
