About Robert E. Olson, a dedicated family man who loved his grandkids, passed away suddenly at his home on Monday, June 5, 2017, surrounded by his family, at the age of 61. He was born in Rocky River, OH on March 28, 1956 to Verna (Ellman) Olson of WI and the late Robert W. Olson. A long-time resident of Moon/Crescent area, Rob was a 1974 graduate of Moon Area High School. Beloved husband for 42 years of Virginia “Bunny” (Christian) Olson who he married on January 4, 1975. Loving father of Robert M. Olson of Moon Township, Kristen Olson Berish (Jason) of Sewickley and David Olson (Margaret) of Moon Township; well-loved Grampa to Isabella “Bear Cub”, Benjamin “Bruno” and Jonathan “Bacon”; cherished brother of Karen Sperli (A.J.) of OH and Tanya Calcote (Stuart) of CA; devoted uncle of Jennie Rose Stearns and Anna Christina Calcote. Rob was a hard worker. For 41 years, he was Senior Operations Manager for Buckeye Pipeline (Coraopolis, Duncansville, and Mechanicsburg) until retiring April 1, 2016. Rob was generous, selfless, kind and positive. He could light up a room with his contagious laugh, his smile and merry eyes. He enjoyed golfing, was revered as a Grill Master and loved family vacations at Hilton Head. He was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church. As he was greatly loved, he will be greatly missed. Visitation Saturday 6-8 PM at Copeland’s Moon Township, 981 Brodhead Rd. Everyone please meet at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 987 Beaver Grade Rd. for further visitation on Sunday at 11 AM followed by funeral service at 12 PM. Rev. William Hower will officiate. In tribute to Rob’s life and to continue the fight against Amyloidosis, family suggests donations for this area of research.
