Graduation Year Class of 1973
Date of Passing Sep 21, 2023
About Gabriel H. Martire, age 68, of Moon Township passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 21, 2023. Gabby was the beloved husband of Carla Martire for 43 years, beloved daddy of Courtney (Sean) Weir, Kelsey (Nick) Nemetz and Ryan (Annie) Martire, beloved Pap-Pap of Giavanna Weir, Stella and Lettie Nemetz, son of the late Joseph and Hazel Martire, brother of the late Joseph Martire, Jr., brother-in-law of Deidre Martire, Rob Cronin and Mary Jo Cronin, loving uncle of Sarah (Adam) Links, Robert (Kara) Cronin and Rachel (Ryan) Finnell, and great uncle to Payton Kammerdeiner, Cash Links, Harper Jo Links, Myles Links, Kaison Cronin and Rowan Cronin.
Gabby loved and adored his wife Carla more than anything. They enjoyed 43 years of marriage. Life threw them ups and downs but no matter what they did it together. Their nickname for each other was "Fruitcake". Gabe never missed an opportunity to surprise her with flowers for special occasions and no occasion at all! They enjoyed going to concerts together to see Hall and Oates and The Eagles. "The part of my life where I had you will forever be my favorite".
Anyone who knew Gabe knew that his kids were the lights of his life and he couldn't have been prouder of all of their life accomplishments. He was lucky enough to see each of his children find their life partners and begin families of their own. No matter where he was or what he was doing, he ALWAYS made sure to be there for every game or performance and was always the loudest cheerleader in the crowd. He had the biggest heart and the warmest smile. He was the very best dad.
Gabe was a Life Member of the Moon Township Volunteer Fire Department and spent more than 10 years working as a Paramedic Assistant for Valley Ambulance Authority, and was a first responder at Ground Zero in New York City for 9/11. He was an avid drag racer and enjoyed spending time at the race track with his brother, Joey. Gabe spent his free time coaching youth football for his son's team and more recently he has enjoyed spending time at the cabin with his son Ryan and best friends Don Neely, Brian Bennett and Davin (Bayley) Payne. He enjoyed spending his mornings having coffee and peanut butter toast with his granddaughter, Stella. Over the past 10 months, Gabby had the distinct title of being the "pillow" for Lettie (aka Screech) as he lovingly nicknamed her. He loved listening to her laugh each time he kissed her cheek.Gabe also enjoyed spending his weekends at the football field watching his granddaughter, Giavanna, cheer for MCAA and made sure to sit front and center for all of her dance performances. Of all the titles and roles Gabby has had over the years Pap-Pap was his favorite. Every ounce of love and affection he gave as a dad doubled when it came to being his grandkids, Pap-Pap. To know Gabby was to love him.
There are some people who bring a light so great to the world, that even after they are gone the light remains. We will continue to share his love, our cherished memories, and stories as a way to honor and keep the legacy he built alive.
Family and friends will be welcomed on Sunday from 1pm - 6pm in the Sanvito Funeral Home, 1316 4th Ave, Coraopolis. A Blessing Service will take place at 5:30pm in the funeral home.
