Graduation Year Class of 1970
Date of Passing Aug 28, 2023
About Christine "Chris" Ellen Spezialetti Cortese, age 70, died peacefully surrounded by her loving husband and daughters on August 28, 2023 after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. Chris was a lifelong Moon Township resident and a Moon Senior High School graduate, class of 1970. She met the love of her life, Anthony "Tony" Cortese, at Moon High School, and they were married in 1972.
Early in her career, Chris worked in accounts payable for Dravo but ultimately found a way to do what she loved more-singing, dancing, and talking to people. In the 1980s, she joined the staff of Carol Leone's Dance, Gymnastics, and Daycare and eventually became the general manager and owner until her retirement in 2014. Chris forged lifetime friendships and brightened hundreds of young lives in that building.
Chris is survived by her loving husband (Anthony) and her daughters, Stacey Cook (Justin Cook) and Alex Sell (Justin Sell). She was the best "Mimi" that ever lived to her three precious granddaughters, Katherine (13), Elizabeth (10), and Tess (3). Chris is also survived by her younger siblings, Michael Spezialetti (Maureen) and Patty Freed (Donald). It is impossible to count, much less name all of the other close friends and family whom Chris touched with her love, enormous generosity, confident advice, and mischievous sense of humor.
She is preceded in death by her father, Louis A. Spezilaetti, mother, Sally Oriskovich, and a younger brother, Thomas Spezialetti (widow, Audrey). We are confident Chris is advising the staff in Heaven on the right way to run the place and which music to play. We know she is looking forward to sharing a gallon of ice cream with Lou, Sally, and Tom. She will be forever missed and never forgotten.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the entire staff at Good Samaritan Hospice and the Hospice House in Wexford.
