About	David E. McCaslin, 73, a life-long resident of Moon Township, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 27,2023. Dave was born in Sewickley on July 30, 1949, one of three children to the late Samuel and Olive (Campbell) McCaslin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Winifred McCallister and his brother Thomas McCaslin. Dave is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Janice (Walls) McCaslin; his cherished children Kelly (Michael Sullivan) McCaslin of California, Michael Chavez of Texas, and Danielle (Nicholas Heurich) McCaslin of North Carolina; two well-loved granddaughters Madison Yauney and Abigale Yauney. Dave was a member of Greystone UP Church. He was a 1968 graduate of Moon Area High School. Post graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. Upon discharge he went to work in the Blast Furnace at J & L Steel Corporation. He retired from Sardello’s where he was a diesel mechanic who worked on train engines. Dave was an avid fan of race cars including both Nascar and the Local Stock Car Racing. He was often found on Saturday nights in the stands at PPMS cheering for the 93X race team. Sundays were for spending time at home in his basement bar surrounded by family, pets and countless years of sports collectibles while cheering hard for the Pittsburgh Steelers, a team that he loved his whole life. Visitation Sunday, July 30, 2023, from 2-4 and 6-8 at Copeland’s Coraopolis, 867 Fifth Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations if desired to the American Heart and Stroke Association.
