During his service in the Vietnam War, he was wounded three times and received three Purple Hearts, along with multiple other service awards and medals. He studied for the ministry at the Pittsburgh Bible College, then went on to become a Pastor for Chuck Smith with Calvery Chapel. Jerry had a deep love for the Word of God. Jerry loved talking to everyone and sharing his passions such as his love for Jesus. One of his favorite trips was to Israel, to be able to walk where Jesus walked. Jerry has left many meaningful and happy memories for those who knew and loved him that will last their lifetimes. After retiring from the ministry, Jerry was a structural steel welder for his career, he owned his own companies. He spent his later years bonding with his veteran friends, Larry Young, Mike Pope, Tom Bolland and Tom Murray. Jerry and his wife, Tambra, fostered over 49 children that became part of their family. Jerry will be sorely missed and forever remembered. He had a great sense of humor and he had many stories to tell of his adventurous life that will live on in infamy.
