About	Helen 'PAT' Lukos was born on 5/27/1944 and went to be with her Lord on 2/22/2022. Pat was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Ed Lukos. Pat was originally from Moon Township, PA. She was employed for 24 years by Chester Engineers. Pat and Ed purchased a home in Hopewell. It is from Hopewell, PA that Pat moved to Lordstown, OH after Ed's death. Pat's love of the German Shepherd Dogs was both a passion and a mission for her. Her dream was to provide a sanctuary for her beloved canine friends. This dream in life came true when she purchased the property in Lordstown – THE WEEPING WILLOW 2ND CHANCE GERMAN SHEPHERD SANCTUARY was born. The name was carefully chosen. "Weeping Willow" was a descriptor of her backyard. It had a pond and weeping willow trees.. an atmosphere that provided a sense of calm; peace and quiet. "2nd Chance" was what she wanted to provide her German Shepherd Dogs. (Seniors). "German Shepherd" Pat was breed specific. Her love of the German Shepherd is her legacy. "Sanctuary" Pat frequently said "I don't rescue". She wanted it to be a safe place for her beloved German Shepherd Dogs to live until a safe or proper home was found. Her home was that sanctuary until that goal was accomplished. Throughout Pat's illness her love for both dog and man never stopped. While she was in the nursing homes and hospitals she would give a newsletter and talk about her beloved Sanctuary and the German Shepherds for as long as the person had time. Those were much cherished moments! Pat was always very caring and concerned and would be a wonderful listener. Pat showed her love in many ways, her dedication to the Christ Episcopal church in Warren and her concern for Warren Police K-9s should there be any updates on either she wanted to know. She always had them in her heart. Weeping Willow 2nd Chance German Shepherd Sanctuary will be continuing, in Pat's honor, with it's loving mission. Pat will be our guardian angel guiding our every step, again helping her precious German Shepherds until they come to be with her and she will bring them safely to the Rainbow Bridge showing them there is nothing to fear.
