About LAUDERBAUGH VIRGINIA COSLER (NEE KELLY)
97, died in Gadsden Alabama on July 16 after a brief illness. Mrs. Lauderbaugh was a long time resident of Moon Township, she moved to Alabama in 2008 to be closer to family. She was born on January 22, 1912 in Dayton, Ohio the oldest daughter of Raymond H. Kelly and Mary Phyllis Cosler. In her early years the family moved to Pittsburgh's West End where she attended public schools. Virginia graduated from Langley H.S. in 1929 and completed a teaching degree at Indiana State Teachers College in 1931. In 1937 she completed a bachelors degree at the University of Pittsburgh. Her teaching career spanned nearly five decades and was spent mostly in Moon Schools. She retired in 1974. She was active in many professional, fraternal and volunteer organizations including Robin Hill Homemakers, Moon Retired Teachers Group, Central Blood Bank Volunteers and the Pittsburgh Region of the Horseless Carriage Club of America. She served as Worthy Matron of the Coraopolis chapter of the Order of Eastern Star in 1967-68. Virginia was a member of Sharon Presbyterian Church in Moon Township. She was a world traveler, an avid reader and life long learner. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale, her son William (Bill), a sister Marge Swoger and brothers, John Lewis, Ray, Bill and Jim Kelly. She is survived by her son, Dr. George M. Lauderbaugh and his wife, Sue, of Jacksonville, Alabama, her daughter in law, Joy Lauderbaugh of Kent, Washington, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Her family expresses its appreciation to long time neighbor and friend, Marie Goss and the family of Marge Swoger for their help and support over the years. Flowers or donations to a favorite charity would be appreciated .Friends will be received Mon. 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the COPELAND MOON TWP. FUNERAL HOME, 981 Brodhead Rd. where a Service will be held Tues. at 11 AM with Rev. Roger Howard Officiating interment in Sharon Church Cemetery. Members of OES will hold a service Monday 7:30.
