About Richard “Rich” Dickhart, also known as “Mr. D”, 74, a man who loved his country and proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1963-1969, a resident of Hopewell for the past 47 years, passed away unexpectedly from COVID-19, on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at Heritage Valley Sewickley. He was born in Sewickley on December 6, 1946, one of two sons to the late Edward and Doris (Tubb) Dickhart. Rich married the love of his life on November 17, 1967, Linda (Metcalf) Dickhart. Rich proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was a member of VVA and Hopewell VFW. He retired in 2001 from McKesson, Van Waters and Rogers. Rich owned a 1967 Emerald Turquoise Impala Super Sport which he and Linda took to many car cruises. Rich and his wife were always having fun whether it be walking, dancing, roller skating and bowling. He was the classic Tinkerer of Tinkers and enjoyed planting his vegetable garden. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and attended all their activities, cheering for them at soccer, swimming, basketball, baseball and supporting Hopewell High School Marching Band. Rich was a graduate of Moon Area High School, class of 1964. Beloved husband of Linda (Metcalf) Dickhart; loving father of Barbara “Barbie” Ann Faulkner and Jason (Christine) Dickhart; adoring grandfather of Matthew, Olivia, and Aaron; brother of Edward Dickhart; also loving nieces and nephews and many friends. Visitation Thursday 2-8 at Copeland’s Coraopolis, 867 Fifth Ave. where service will be held on Friday at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Coraopolis Cemetery with full military. Family suggests donations if desired to any veteran’s charity of your choice.
