I was on the Minerva golf team my senior year, which happened to be the first year our school had a team. The following year while i was away at college, my parent's neighbors, Rolland and Marie Wolfe had persuaded Arnold Palmer to come to Minerva to speak at the annual Sports Banquet. being an avid golfer, I was always saddened that i could not have been there to meet Arnold and hear what he had to say. Fast forward to 2014 during which time i was working at a coin show in Ocala Florida. While chatting with a customer at my bourse table, the subject of golf came up. Upon discovering that i was from Minerva Ohio, he told me he would come back the next day, and that he had something to give me. He returned as promised and handed me a program from the aforementioned sports banquet sporting autographs from both Arnold Palmer and Lou Groza. I asked him how he happened to come across this since he was not even from Ohio. He told me he had purchased two of them at a garage sale a while back and was happy to give one to someone from Minerva. I surmise either it's a small world, or Minerva is much larger than i thought.
