Favorite School Memory | Oh, heck, maybe it would be dancing during "free period" with the gal sent from New York City to the rural area of Meyersdale in the hopes that she would relinquish the knife she carried on her ankle and the drugs she probably smoked. Oh, yes, there we...(read more) |
About Me | It took years but I finally achieved the education I wanted in the fields of social psychology and English Literature. I haven't achieved the degree I wanted to become a psychologist. This might be a good thing since there are areas of my own life where some counseling might be beneficial. As you've already seen I also married. I'm also now separated from Bruce but we maintain a friendly relationshp. He lives in our house in the Pocono Mts. and I've found a lovely apartment in the nearby squalid city of Wilkes-Barre where i live with a service working dog who lets me know if I'm about to have a seizure. Now that's a real kick. I've written various essays on various things and they have been published in little known journals. I've done the same with poetry and I've just found a band that wants some of my lyrics. Poets are typically quite poor; it's true "starving artists" are rampant. I'm doing my bit in that regard. Trust me, no one with money would live in Wilkes-Barre! The best thing about it is its proximity to New Jersey, New York City and Philadelphia and that is better appreciated by those who sell recreational drugs, which I avoid - thank God! I have also survived the fiend of breast cancer - twice. Another thing to thank God for is that I wasn't born to nurse a litter. Otherwise, there could have been more ugly surgeries. Had I the money and guts there would be a lovely hummingbird and floral tatoo on my chest. That isn't about to happen. Real jobs? Paying Jobs? Executive Secretary, once for a private institution and a second time for the Federal Gov. I did a horribly low paying, frantic paced, hateful gig as a receptionist/secretary for a couple of psychological firms. I should have been a patient instead. I apprenticed in a salon and became a certified make up artist. Then I free-lanced as a make up artist for Christian Dior and Chanel. Now THAT job paid quite well, unfortunately it wasn't full time and had no benefits. My greatest achievement, the thing I'm most happy about, that thing in life that makes me tick is my relationship with my niece, Ashley, who is attending an arts school in Pittsburgh and my seven year old niece, Haley, the adopted daughter of my younger sister who is an awesome woman and my heroine. Haley is adopted and has multiple behavioral disorders. She loves her Aunt Caryn and Uncle Bruce. We all look forward to her first visit this summer to our home here in the Pocono's. Making memories for Haley is where I see my life really headed as I move toward my 53rd birthday this coming Sept. 2010. We shall have tea parties and dress up in shoes too big and dresses too poofy and in poor taste. She will drink sugar free soda and I shall have a badly needed glass of wine - big glass. Our community has a little beach area at a man made lake within walking distance of the house - a good thing since my vision doesn't permit the driving experience. We shall take her to a little zoo, to Eason, Pa. to see how crayola makes crayons and shopping at The Great WalMart - the mecca for CHEAP. This child is my future, along with reading and writing. Can you tell I love her to pieces? Bruce does too. One thing I have not done is purchase a digital camera. Photo taking isn't a hobby, but with humility and a spirit of goodwill I shall have a photo taken by someone else who owns such an apparatus and then, with th...(read more) |
