Rose of Care Honors Southwest FL Nurses
Twenty-one Southwest Florida nurses have been named as finalists for the Rose of Care Award, created in memory Ingeborg Mauksch, PhD, who promoted hospice care and was an active founder of the nursing program at Florida Gulf Coast University, Ft. Myers.
The finalists are: Barbara L. Anderson, RN, Amy Barnes, RN, Martha D. Bartholomew, RN, Ellen Eaton, RN, Saundra W. Falk, RN, Colleen Marie Faulkner, RN, Ria Michele Fewox, RN, Joan Gibble, ARNP, Mary Ann King, RN, Betty Love, RN, Donna Sabina McVety, RN, Lily Kirshner Miller, RN, Donna Kathleen Neff, RN, Suzanne Orkin, RN, Marva Deane Pharis, RN, Cynthia Rolland, RN, Lisa M. Sgarlata, RN, Doris White Slabinski, RN, Diane Spears, RN, Jo Stecher, RN, and Abbie Uhl, RN.
The winning recipient will be announced at a special ceremony held on Jan. 29.
Finalists submitted narratives and were personally interviewed by a selection committee comprised of community leaders. The recipient of the Rose of Care Award will receive a pin designed by local jeweler and a mission trip to Israel, sponsored by Hadassah, whose local chapter created the award
