What is Zach Scott known for?

Zacharias Scott, born on July 2, 1980, in Haiku-Pauwela, Hawaii, is known as a significant figure in American professional football. After mastering the art of football at Maui High School in Kahului, Hawaii, he moved on to hone his skills at Gonzaga University, where he was active on the men's soccer team from 1998 till 2001.

After college, Zach started his professional career in 2002, joining the Seattle Sounders of the USL First Division. He then made a memorable move to the Seattle Sounders FC in 2009, after two months on trial, where he spent nearly a decade defending the team's honor on the pitch. He became an integral part of the Sounders, amassing a total of 272 appearances and scoring 9 goals. His steadfast loyalty to the Sounders over his career garnered him the nickname "Mr. Sounder".

Zach's football career is bookmarked by a robust set of achievements, including one MLS title, two USL First Division titles, four U.S. Open Cups, and an MLS Supporters' Shield. He retired in 2016, augmenting his farewell with the Sounders' triumphant win at the MLS Cup Final that same year.

His long-standing service with the Seattle Sounders FC, spanning 15 years, was celebrated with a testimonial match hosted by the Sounders and the ECS supporters' group in 2017. Although retired, Zach remains linked to the game as a periodic contributor to local Seattle Sounders television broadcasts, allowing him to share his unique insights and experiences with newer generations of soccer enthusiasts.
