Peter Ebbe

Wisconsin State Assembly

What is Peter Ebbe known for?

One of the esteemed alumni from Marshfield High School in Marshfield, Wisconsin, is Peter Ebbe (May 4, 1865 – June 3, 1947). Born in Denmark, Mr. Ebbe moved to the United States in 1883 and made his home in Wood County, Wisconsin. He immersed himself into numerous enterprises, from the lumber industry and running a sawmill to farming.

In addition to his business ventures, Ebbe was actively involved in public service. He served as a postmaster and participated in the school board. He was equally dedicated to his community, holding positions on the town board and as a fire warden. Despite having roots in Denmark, he made Marshfield, Wisconsin his home.

Ebbe's political career was marked by his tenure in the Wisconsin State Assembly from 1927 to 1933 as a representative of the Republican party. In his later years, he relocated to Arcadia, California, where he passed away in 1947.

For more about him, you can refer to the 'Wisconsin Blue Book 1931,' which includes a biographical sketch of Peter Ebbe, or check out the obituary published in the Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune on June 3, 1947.

Though Peter Ebbe's story might be the testament of an era long past, his story continues to inspire us with a pervasive spirit of industry, dedication, and service.
