What is MaryAnn Lippert known for?

MaryAnn T. Lippert, born December 21, 1953, in Marshfield, Wisconsin is a decorated American politician and health educator. After graduating from Pittsville High School, Lippert attended the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse, where she earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees. Her career in health education was a distinguishing aspect of her early career.

In 1998, Lippert took a significant step into politics when she ran against incumbent Donald W. Hasenohrl for the 70th Assembly District seat. While initially unsuccessful, Lippert made a resounding comeback in the 2000 general elections, winning by a narrow margin of 104 votes. In her term as a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, Lippert served in various roles such as Vice-Chair on the Committees on Children and Families and Public Health, and as a member of the Committees on Aging and Long-Term Care; Economic Development; Health; and Transportation.

However, in 2002 Lippert chose not to run for re-election due to the illness of her husband, Jerry. After her stint in the assembly, she went back to her roots in community health improvement. Her work was acknowledged when she was appointed as Executive Assistant to Eloise Anderson, the then-new Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families, as part of the administration of incoming governor Scott Walker. She was later named as the Governor's Northern Director, serving as a bridge between rural communities in Northern Wisconsin and the Governor's Administration.

Aside from her professional accomplishments, Lippert is a mother of three. She has been a long-term resident of Pittsville, Wisconsin, where she also served as a member of the Pittsville School District board of education. Her life is a testament to her commitment to public service, health education, and community enrichment.

More details about her life and career can be found here and here. Information about her term in the Wisconsin State Assembly can be found in the Wisconsin Legislative Reference Bureau State of Wisconsin 2001-2002 Blue Book.
