What is Emil P. Scheibe known for?

Emil Paul Scheibe was a notable figure in American politics and the brewing industry. Born in Manitowoc, Wisconsin on September 1, 1861, he moved to Centerville, a town in Manitowoc County, in 1867. His brewing career began here, but it was his move to Marshfield, Wisconsin that solidified his legacy in this industry, as he co-founded the Marshfield Brewing Company.

His political journey took him to the heart of the state's legislative process. As a committed member of the Democratic Party, he served in the Wisconsin State Assembly in 1889. His civic engagement also extended to local governance, with his service on the Marshfield Common Council in 1895, 1898, and 1899.

Sadly, Emil Scheibe passed away on December 28, 1910, in Marshfield, after a prolonged illness. Nevertheless, his contributions to the brewing industry and his public service in Wisconsin remain a significant part of his legacy. He is also an esteemed alumnus of Marshfield High School in Marshfield, Wisconsin.
