"AMHERST - Peggy Kordeleski, age 47 and a longtime resident of Amherst, died Sunday, April 3, 2011 after a brief battle with cancer.

Peggy was born in Amherst and graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School and Marion L. Steele High School, Class of 1982. Peggy attended Lorain County Community College following high school, and for the past twenty years was the co-owner and operator of Maryann's Pizza in Amherst.

Peggy also did private catering in addition to the pizza shop.
Peggy was an active member of the Amherst Parent Teacher Organization. She volunteered as a docent for the Amherst Historical Society, the Animal Habitat at Powers Elementary, and in the past at the Special Olympics in Maryland. She was a volunteer instructor for Junior Achievement. Peggy also delivered for Meals on Wheels.

Surviving is Peggy's life partner and their daughter Edmund and Giovanna Clayton of Amherst; her mother Maryann (nee DeMarco) Kordeleski of Amherst; two sisters; Kathy Kordeleski of Amherst and Donna (Bill) Woods of Cleveland; a brother Dan (Kelly) Kordeleski of Amherst; seven nephews; two nieces; and Ed's brother David Clayton of Berea.

She was preceded in death by her father Benjamin J. Kordeleski (2000) and Ed's parents Edmund (2001) and Claudia (nee Pisegna) Clayton (2007).

Family will receive friends 4 - 8 p.m., Tuesday at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst. The funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst, with Rev. James Mazanec, associate pastor of St. Joseph's and Rev. Thomas Weber, concelebrating.

Everyone please meet at church for the mass. At a later date, Peggy's cremation will be interred with her father in St. Joseph Cemetery, Amherst.

In lieu of flowers, memorials for Gia's college education may be made at any branch of Fifth Third Bank to the order of Giovanna Clayton Education Fund.
