"Noble C. Bierman, age 89, 840 Eichelberger Drive, Urbana, Ohio, passed away on June 1, 2011.

Born in Lorain, Ohio, on May 30, 1922, he moved to Amherst, Ohio, in 1924 and graduated from Amherst High School in 1940. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on June 17, 1942, and served with the 457th AAA A.W. Battalion in the E.T.O. He moved to Urbana in 1951 and was employed at Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton for 32 years. At the time of his retirement, he was employed as a quality control specialist with the 4950th Test Wing.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty; daughter Linda (Tom) Heigel of Xenia, Ohio; grandsons Marc and Greg (Stephanie) Stevens; twin great-grandsons Bek and Keb and great-granddaughter Ella Davis; and sisters Lois Bittinger and Lynn Bierman of Rocky River, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Audrey Bilby, and brothers Edward, John, and George Bierman.

He was awarded the Bronze Service Award for Omaha Beach, 5 Battle stars for Normandy, N. France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe, and the European Theater Medal. He was a member of Urbana Methodist Church, American Legion Post 120, and the Wright Patterson Century Club.

According to his wishes, his remains have been donated to Wright State School of Medicine. There will be no services or visitation. Burial will be at the Veteran's Administration Center in Dayton at a later date.
