About	John Drake 30 Jun 1939 - 28 Aug 2011 Amherst High School - Class of 1957 "John Drake, 72 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2011, at New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain. He was born June 30, 1939, in Lorain, Ohio. John was raised in Amherst and graduated from Amherst High School in the class of 1957. In 1961, he received his Bachelor's of Education at Bowling Green State University where he was a member of the TAU-KAPPA-EPSILON fraternity. He had lived briefly in Lorain, but Amherst had been his home for the majority of his life. John taught Junior High School for four years at Sheffield Lake Middle School and Lakewood's Horace Mann Junior High. He was also employed at Ford Motor Corporation in Lorain for five years. John retired in 1999, after thirty years as an industrial engineer at USS Kobe in Lorain. He was an avid gardener, and enjoyed woodworking. John loved taking care of his standard poodles. Survivors include his wife of fifty years Jill Drake (nee: Keller); his son and his wife James John and Karyn Drake and their children Emily and Alex of Geneva, Illinois; his daughter and her husband Alison and Kevin Kinnear and their children Claire, and Brian John of Hudson, Ohio; his brother and his wife David and Donna Drake of Gainesville, Florida; his sister and her husband Elizabeth and John Lowe of Demarest, New Jersey; three nieces and one nephew and his beloved pet Tiger a standard poodle . He was preceded in death by his parents James and Gladys Drake (nee: Bellinger). Private Graveside services will be held by the family. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
