"AMHERST OH Jack E. Brown, 43, of Amherst, died unexpectedly on Monday, June 14, 2010 at his home from natural causes.

He was born May 23, 1967 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Amherst area resident.

Jack was a graduate of Marion Steele High School in Amherst in 1985. He served with the U.S. Army for 3 years as an E-4 and had been stationed at the demilitarized zone in Korea. He attended Lorain County Community College. Jack served as a patrolman for the Lorain Police Department for 20 years retiring in 2010.

He was a life member of VFW 451 in Lorain and a member of the Knights of Columbus in Lorain.

Jack enjoyed spending time with his children and attending their sporting events. Over a 3 year period, Jack and his father had completely remodeled the home he was living in.

Dear father of Jack Thomas 'J.T.' Brown and Taylor Marie Brown, beloved son of John 'Jack' and Joan Brown (nee Raider) of Lorain, dear brother of Amy Glowacki (Tim) of Amherst and David Brown (Stacy) of Lorain, beloved grandson of Jeanne Brown of Lorain, dear uncle of Kenny Glowacki, Tyler Glowacki, Nick Glowacki, Zac Glowacki, Dakota Brown and Cole Brown and beloved nephew to several aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Jack C. Brown, maternal grandparents Edward & Gertrude Raider (nee Ryan), godmother and aunt Carole Gormley and godfather and uncle Bob Raider.

The family will receive friends Thursday 4-9 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:30 am in the funeral chapel followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Mary Mother of God Catholic Church, 310 8th St., Lorain. The Rev. James Becherer, chaplain of St. Edward High School in Lakewood, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where the VFW Post 451 and American Legion Post 30, both of Lorain, will conduct military honors.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10004."
