"AMHERST James Allen 'Hudey' Hudak, 54 of Amherst, Ohio died early Sunday morning, May 23, 2010 in New Life Hospice of St. Joseph, Lorain, Ohio following a brief illness.

He was born on April 16, 1956 in Lorain. He was a life long Amherst resident. Mr. Hudak was a 1974 Marion L. Steele High School graduate. He was employed for General Motors Corporation in Elyria; he later worked for Alamo in Brookpark, Ohio and WalMart in North Olmsted and Oberlin. Mr. Hudak was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst where he was a former altar boy and played football on their CYO team. He was a member of the Men’s Auxiliary of the V.F.W., Post 1662, Amherst for whom he was the current president. Mr. Hudak was also a member of the Amherst Eagles, No. 1442, Amherst American Legion, Post 118 and the American Slovak Club, Branch 133.

He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians. Mr. Hudak was a jokester who loved the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-two years, Mary Jo (nee: Michaels) Hudak, his mother, Eleanor Margaret (nee: Super) Hudak of Amherst, his brother, Jeffrey J. (Marla K.) Hudak of Amherst, his sisters, Karen M. (Neal B.) Sisler of Terra Alta, West Virginia, Marlene A. Hudak of Amherst, Kathleen A. (Robert H., Jr.) Addis of Avon Lake and Margaret Mary Johnson of Amherst, many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Mr. Hudak was preceded in death by his father, Robert Joseph Hudak on August 1, 2009.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, May 27 from 2 P.M. until 4 P.M. and from 7 P.M. until 9 P.M. in the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst. Prayers will be in the funeral home on Friday, May 28 at 9:15 P.M. follow by Mass at 10 A.M. in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.

Memorial contributions may be made to New Life Hospice of St. Joseph, 5255 N. Abbe Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Walter A. Frey Funeral Home, 700 West Erie Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44052."
