Off the field, Marvin Harvey's life has been equally eventful. He got married to Benita "Bonnie" Marshall in 1981 who with his support, started the NFL Player's Wives Association the next year. Despite their divorce in 1985, the two have maintained a friendly relationship.

After retiring from football, Harvey took on the responsibility of being a Florida State Trooper and currently resides in Tallahassee, Florida. Known for his community spirit, he spends his free time helping teenagers and young boys strive for success in their lives.
