About Glenn Gordan Barnes, 62, departed this life July 20, 2012, after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, Francene K. Barnes; sons, Thomas Barnes (Kelly), Lindsey Barnes (Trisha); a daughter, Rossi Williams; a brother, Leonard Barnes (Doretha); sisters, Regina White (Derek), Lyn Roundtree (Willie); sisters-in-law, Bessie Bell; Vernita Kingcade; Mary Mayfield; brothers-in-law, Jerome Kingcade (Carolyn); Bryan Kingcade (Edna); Walter Kingcade (Juanita); Edward Kingcade (Stacy); Clyde Kingcade (Lucille); 12 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Glenn was a History teacher, assistant football coach and VTO Union Steward at Mainland High School. He was involved in Sunday School and the Male Chorus at Greater New Zion Primitive Baptist Church. He was affiliated with the NAACP and the Florida A&M Alumni Assoc. He was a former coach and commissioner of Pop Warner Football and Cheerleading, District Manager Central Life Insurance Co, entrepreneur of Barnes-Nelson Modeling and Talent Agency, manager for Payless Shoe Store, member of the Volusia Anthropological Society and served on the United Way Volusia-Flagler Allocation Panel. He was a 1967 graduate of Lincoln High School, Tallahassee, FL. He attended Florida A&M University, Tallahassee, FL, where he played football, was a News Editor of the FAMU newsletter and earned a B.S. Degree in History Education. He will be remembered at Allen Chapel AME Church, 580 George W. Engram Blvd, Daytona Bch, 1 PM, July 28, 2012. Elder Robert L. Fuller will render the eulogy. Viewing will be 5-8 PM, Fri., July 27, 2012, at Greater New Zion PB C, 201 Dr. Martin L. King Blvd, Daytona Bch & from 11:30 until service time at the church on Sat. In lieu of flowers the family has established the Glenn G.
