About Funeral service for Mr. Harvey Porter will be Sat., Dec. 18, 3:30 PM at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Barhoo,
Living Faith World Ministries, delivering the main eulogy. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5:30 - 7:30 Fri., Dec. 17 (today) at Freewill Holiness Church, also from 2 - 3:30 PM at Shiloh MBC on Sat. Harvey was born and raised in Daytona Beach, Florida on January 22, 1973, to the proud parents of Harvey C. Porter, II & Marsha Howard Porter. He attended Volusia County Public Schools and began his junior high school years at Campbell Jr. High and high school years at Mainland High School, where he graduated in 1991. Harvey had a great admiration for sports which developed at a very early age. As a youth he participated in several sports such as football and basketball. This admiration developed into skill as he excelled in little league athletics, AAU teams, then on to Campbell Junior High School where he started at point guard for the basketball team winning the "Mr. Playmaker Award" and starting wide receiver for the football team. He then continued on to Mainland High School where he continued to play point guard for the basketball team and excelled at wide receiver. Harvey won several awards for his athletic play some of which were All Area Football Honors, McDonalds Player of the Week Honors, Mainland Wide Receiver of the Year Honors, amongst others. As a result of his athletic play at Mainland, Harvey received consideration and scholarship offers by several collegiate schools to play football. He ultimately decided to take his game to the next level at defending 1990 and 1992 NAIA National Football Champions, Central State University Marauders in Ohio. After 2 years at Central State University he transferred back home to much warmer Daytona Beach and became a receiver for Bethune-Cookman College Fight Wildcats. He was employed at Porter Financial Services as a bookkeeper and worked side by side with his father helping to build the family business. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Alphonso & Annie Pearl O'Berry, & Harvey C. Porter, I; his great Aunt, Jenny Lee Brown, Maternal Uncle, Michael E. Howard, Sr., and Paternal Cousin, Eddie Lee Brown.
He leaves to cherish his memories his beautiful daughter, Keyana Nicole Porter, Columbia, MD; his loving parents: Harvey C. Porter, II & Marsha Porter of Port Orange, FL; 3 siblings: Erica Porter-Johnson (Marcus), Angela Nicole Porter-Mosimanewakang (Isaac), both of Port Orange, FL; one brother, Brian C. Porter (Alicha), Sanford, FL; maternal grandparents, Willie C. & Merdine Howard, Daytona Beach, FL; 4 Aunts; Linda McArthur (Herbert), Sabrina David, Katherine O'berry, Daytona Beach, Fl, Joann Daniels, Baxley, GA; 3 Uncles: Stevie Howard, Miami, Fl, Robert "Buggy" Reed, Larry Porter, Sr., Kelvin O'berry, Texas. 3 Great-Aunts: Ossie Mae Jones & Josephine King, Daytona Beach, FL, Essie Mae Cummings, Jacksonville, FL; two great-uncles, Raymond Howard, Sr. (Loreli) Daytona Beach, & Johnnie C. Howard (Ernestine), Sumter, SC. Harvey adored his loving Nieces & Nephews: Jayda Milligan, Jaylen Johnson, Brian C. Porter, Jr. & Jazlyn Johnson, and will be missed greatly by them; he will also be missed by his God-sister, Marlencia Dotson & God-Mother, Ophelia Roundtree all of Daytona Beach, FL and many close cousins.Devoted Friends: Vanessa Lloyd, Keith Conegia, Tracy Shropshire and the mother of his daughter, Krystal Allen Lighty.
