About	Jeffery Lee Simmons "Jeffy", 51, was suddenly taken from us while coming home from work on July 4, 2009. Jeff was born on August 29, 1957 in Daytona Beach, FL and was a lifelong resident of Volusia County; living in South Daytona, Bunnell and settling in Port Orange. He graduated from Mainland High School in 1975, and in 1982, he married the love of his life, Terri. He was a devoted loving husband and father. Jeff worked as a service plumber in Volusia County for many years. His last years were spent as a plumber for EG&G, Gov. Facilities maintenance co. within Kennedy Space Center where he has been employed since 10/2000. This was Jeff's lifelong "dream job" which came shortly after the loss of his daughter, Juli Lynne in 1997. He took pride in his work and was very proud to work at Kennedy Space Center. With a heart of gold, Jeff would do anything for anyone, especially when plumbing was involved. Throughout his lifetime, Jeff made many wonderful friends and loved them all. Jeff enjoyed fishing, hiking in the mountains of NC, boating with his children and swimming with his Catahoula Bulldogs, Jake and Skylar. His family who he treasured most of all will miss his love and great sense of humor. He leaves behind a loving wife of 27 years, Terri (Ballard) Simmons; son, Jason Edward Simmons; mother, Barbara and father, James Edward; brother, James Edward II (Dee); sister, Jami (David); nephew, James Kyle Simmons; nieces, Joelle E. Simmons and Delana L. Davis; in-laws, Leonard & Nova Ballard; sister-in-law, Tina Ballard and many cousins. We take comfort knowing he is with his daughter Juli. A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Jeff will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 18, at the Port Orange Chapel of Volusia Memorial Funeral Homes, 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd., with Chaplain James E. Smith officiating. A reception will follow at the funeral home. Donations may be made to Ronald McDonald House of Durham, NC in memory of (Jeff & Juli Simmons).
