What is Jeff Adams known for?

Jeff Adams, born September 6, 1989 in Berwyn, Illinois, is a former offensive tackle in American football and a notable alumni of Lyons Township High School in La Grange, Illinois. Known for his formidable height of 6 ft 7 in, and weight of 305 lb, he initially distinguished himself in his high school days playing football and basketball, earning All-West Suburban Conference honors in both sports. Impressively, Adams also captained the football team during his senior year and achieved Class 8A Academic All-State.

Following his commendable high school career, Adams played college football at Columbia University for the Lions from 2008 to 2011. Although he went undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft, Jeff Adams didn't let that setback deter his professional aspirations. He signed with the Dallas Cowboys on April 30, 2012, marking the start of his NFL journey. Over the years, Adams changed teams frequently, and while most of his time was spent as an offseason or practice squad member, he had his moments on the gridiron.

Adams had spells with the Cincinnati Bengals, Miami Dolphins, and Tennessee Titans, mostly as a practice squad member, before landing a contract with the Houston Texans on August 31, 2014. This was where he made his impactful NFL debut on December 21, 2014, against the Baltimore Ravens. However, in a game against the Carolina Panthers on September 20, 2015, Adams suffered a patellar tendon tear, leading to an unfortunate spell on the injured reserve list. He had an on-and-off relationship with the Texans until 2016.

The final leg of his professional career was with the New York Jets, with whom he signed on February 8, 2017. His stint with the Jets was short-lived, as he was waived on September 1, 2017, marking an end to his professional football journey. Throughout his career in the NFL, Adams played in four games and started in two.
