David Thomas Wehrmeister, born on November 9, 1952 in Berwyn, Illinois, is a notable former Major League Baseball pitcher. An alumnus of Lyons Township High School where he was a varsity letter winner in baseball, he was the San Diego Padres' first-round pick, and third overall, in the January regular phase of the 1973 Major League Baseball Draft.

His Major League Baseball debut was on April 16, 1976, playing for the San Diego Padres. He then went on to play parts of six seasons in the majors from 1976 to 1985, never pitching in more than 30 games. Over his career, he played for the San Diego Padres (1976-1978), the New York Yankees (1981), the Philadelphia Phillies (1984), and the Chicago White Sox (1985).

In 1979, Wehrmeister was traded to the New York Yankees for outfielder Jay Johnstone. After some time off the pitch, he made a comeback in 1981, appearing in four games in relief for the Yankees. A few years later, in 1983, he was transferred to the Philadelphia Phillies in a minor league deal, playing seven major league games in 1984 before returning to the minors.

1985 saw him becoming a free agent and signing with the Chicago White Sox, wrapping up his major league career with his statistically best season. He recorded an earned run average (ERA) below 5.00 for the first time, at 3.43, and earned two of his four major league wins, plus his only two major league saves. He then pitched one more season for the minor league Buffalo Bisons in 1986 before retiring.
