Fellow LHS Alumni,

I am reaching out to all the Ledyard graduates that I know on behalf of the Ledyard High School Alumni Association, Inc. I am the newly elected president of the association and have taken on the responsibility of aiding the the "resurrection" of the same.

Some of you may be aware that the former president of our alumni association embezzled nearly all of the associations funds. She is currently serving a prison sentence for similar crimes to other entities. Her actions have placed the association in a nearly insolvent financial position. Further, the association's membership records, complete with member contact information, were kept on a personal computer owned by the former president. This computer is no longer available.

Thus, we are reforming our association from scratch, and I am seeking your assistance.

The basic mission of the association is to provide a network for professional development, maintain social connectivity among alumni, and to provide scholarship funds for various needs at LHS. Funds are raised under the rules of the 501(c)(3) IRS Tax Code. The funds are distributed after a committee review on a case by case basis. The association's definition of a scholarship can potentially mean:

Partial college funding
Pay-to-play assistance (yes, Ledyard instituted a policy in which students/families pay $100 per sport to play...some students cannot afford this)
Discretionary funding for extenuating needs
