As a bright student with a keen interest in arts, he was president of his high school's drama club and also exhibited commendable musical talent as he learned to play multiple musical instruments. He also played baseball with aspirations of turning professional.

Post high school, Teller continued to nurture his passion for the arts at the prestigious New York University Tisch School of the Arts, where he acquired a Bachelor of Fine Arts in drama in 2009. He studied method acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute and screen acting with Stonestreet Studios.
