Born Nov. 13, 1960, in Glens Falls, she was the beloved daughter of Clifford and Jane (Burton) Newell.

She graduated from Lake George High School and enlisted in the United States Army in 1980, being honorably discharged in 1984. Following her discharge, she traveled to Quito, Ecuador, where she spent time working as a missionary as a medical technician in their hospitals.

She came back to the United States to further her education, graduating from Hood College in Frederick, Md., earning a bachelor's degree in Teaching. She then pursued her master's degree from Plattsburgh State through the programs at Adirondack Community College.

Her latest position was teaching Anatomy and Physiology at Queensbury High School, retiring due to her illness.

She married Ted Wood Dec. 10, 1994, at Hartford United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Patti Girard.

As a very active person, Robin enjoyed kayaking, horseback riding, playing softball, camping, and scrapbooking. Above all, her family was of most importance, with whom she loved taking family trips with, and participating in their school and extracurricular activities, including starting the 4-H in Fort Ann called The Artist Kids.

Robin was predeceased by one daughter, Erin Elizabeth, who passed away at birth, her paternal grandparents, Veronica and Elwyn Newell, maternal grandmother, Nellie Drew, maternal grandfather, Roderick Burton, her maternal step-grandfather, Charles Drew, and one brother, Lance Newell.

Survivors include her beloved parents, Clifford and Jane (Burton) Newell of Lake George; her husband, Ted Wood; 12-year-old daughter, Mackenna; and 10-year-old son, Connor, all of Fort Ann; one sister, Jacqueline Carstens of Queensbury; three brothers: Kip, and his wife, Terri, of South Glens Falls, Scott, and his wife, Kim, of Fort Edward, and Shane, and his wife, Diane, of Warrensburg; one sister-in-law, Janet Newell, of Sanford, Fla.; her mother and father-in-law, Don and Barb Wood, and her brother-in-law, Gregg, and his wife Shelly, all of Fort Ann; also many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Robin enjoyed a wonderful relationship with the family of Norman and Marcia Wilkinson and their two daughters, Heather and Danielle. She met them while in service in Panama and they had a great influence in her life.

She lived with them while attending college in Maryland and thought of her as a daughter.
